The renovation of the Galveston Island Municipal Golf Course is nearing completion.

"Today we wanted to see the progress of the 'grow in' said Jim Hardy of Jacobsen Hardy Golf Course Design in an interview with GuidryNews.com, after reviewing the new grasses that have been planted at the conclusion of the project.  "We like what we see, it looks good."

Hardy said area golfers will be pleased with the course when it opens in June.

"I think they will be amazed," he said.  "This is a very playable, beautiful golf course.  It's also a more rounded facility."

Hardy said the redesign provides a practice facility that did not exist in the past.  "I am very excited to get this project underway and open," said Bill Pushak, manager of the golf course, who added that the Pelican Grill also has been renovated and will feature a more "upscale" menu. "You will still be able to get your hot dogs and your hamburgers, but with some other menu items."
